Travelling by bicycle is a great way to get around Loch Lomond. A cycle path from Balloch provides an ideal means from which to explore the loch, free from any road traffic. It runs for 28 kilometres from the southern end of the loch, all the way up to Tarbet. The signed route is easy to follow and affords excellent views of the many wooded islands in the loch’s large southern basin. Start from the Loch Lomond Shores Gateway Centre. Halfway along you’ll reach the pretty shoreside village of Luss which looks across to the mighty bulk of Ben Lomond. From Tarbet you can catch a train to Glasgow or change to return to Balloch.
