Wimbledon Park has been a place for sporting activities for centuries, ever since the first Earl Spencer opened it to the public in 1744. It was not until the late nineteenth Century, however, that Wimbledon Park Golf Club (earlier known as the Wimbledon Park Sports Club) began promoting organised sport in the park. Wimbledon Park Golf Club has excellent facilities, a clubhouse bar and restaurant, a shop, training facilities and - most of all - a lovely setting for a game of golf.
